ABOUT THIS RELEASE:
Surf Boundaries Addendum is a new set of remixes and videos from Christopher Willits’ highly praised “Surf Boundaries” album that was released in October of 2006. Willits’ original album is an emotional, epic experience that combines elements of shoegaze, ambient, jazz and dreamy pop sounds, which now lend themselves perfectly to reconfiguring and visual interpretation.
Ghostly’s commitment to both music and art is exemplified in this collection of two audio reconfigurations and three visual art pieces from renowned artists, all available for free through the Ghostly website. The Dead Texan remix of “Colors Shifting” includes their signature smudging of guitar lines and play with reverberation while adding drips of organic sounds, emphasizing the ethereal qualities in Willits’ music. To Rococo Rot’s Robert Lippok (Raster Noton, Domino, Monika Enterprises) provides a minimalist version of “Yellow Spring,” bringing out warm distinctive drum beats and distorting the vocals for a more subtle approach. Scott Pagano, Nobuko Hori, and The Dead Texan’s own Christina Vantzou each showcase their unique take on imagery and music combinations with videos for “Colors Shifting,” “Saturn,” and “Green and Gold,” respectively.

LISTENING GARDEN + PRESS RELEASE
boomkat “album of the week”:
http://www.boomkat.com/
or buy the CD here : http://www.12k.com/shop/usa.htm#LINE
Listening Garden was developed as a sonic alteration of two quiet indoor/outdoor tea spaces installed at the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media in Yamaguchi, Japan in June of 2004. The audio installation was designed to heighten visitor’s senses and alter the sonic space as they sat, read, or had quiet conversation amongst the trees. Taylor Deupree and Christopher Willits composed a number of short, randomly sequenced multi-channel soundworks using guitar and electronics. The fragments of sounds, while both gentle and subtly rich, are intentionally weathered, eroded and understated, generating a sonic bridge between the digital world of sound and the audiosphere of nature.
The audio on this CD is built from location recordings taken in the garden over the course of a week during the exhibit. The environmental and incidental sounds played a large part of the physical work and are captured and utilized in the recording. Listening Garden is meant to enhance the experience of simply sitting and enjoying one’s place in time.
This CD is best heard in a similar situation and at a low background level. Headphones are not recommended.
