DJ SET at SWISSNIX – APRIL 24 + CAFE DU NORD – MAY 10th

I’m playing a DJ set at a very cool event friday night April 24th.
this is a Swissnex event featuring a new robot, QB1, created by Engineer Frédéric Kaplan and designer Martino d’Esposito. Their work with intelligent machines has also been shown at The New York Museum of Modern Art.

Overlap, the experimental community building organization I founded and direct, was invited to collaborate with Swissnex and QB1 to create sound design for the event. Louis Rawlins and I (the Overlap Max/MSP/Jitter freaks) have created a generative audio system that uses midi files submitted by Overlap.org users. + I’ll be DJ’ing some slow moving tunes at the beginning and end of the night.

a lot more info here :

+ My next San Francisco performance is going to be May 10th 2009 at Cafe Du Nord. This is another Overlap event featuring Taylor Deupree (12k), Classical Revolution, and I.
Sponsors include XLR8R and Friends of the Urban Forest. !

BACK IN SF THIS WEEK

just got home from santa fe and boulder. had an amazing time and met some amazing people. so many thanks to kate and the communikey crew, d numbers for being such great hosts in santa fe, and forest who is such an awesome friend.

i really like this style of touring the US.. gone a few days a week play a show or two, maybe lead a workshop.. come back to SF and work on things before doing it again. it’s the best of both worlds, where i’m able to connect with people in other parts of the country and still able to guide a bunch of SF and studio-based projects that are evolving right now.

DJ set this friday at Swissnex, and the Bellingham Electronic Arts Festival soon after.
all info on my events page.

HAPPY AND TWITTERED

the Resonant Forms show at LACE last night was great !
thanks to everyone that came out and to LACE and Volume for setting up some a great event.

i played two long pieces.. one that has been evolving over the last year, and on the next solo album. it’s a looping guitar, polyrhythmic processing and percussion epic. the other piece was a very harmonic and layerd e-bow piece that also incorporates a lot of deep guitar synth bass.
loving these pieces, and feeling like my intentions are vibrating out through them well. i’ll get some live recordings out there for you all soon.

we proved that twitter really is cool yesterday.. i tweeted out 2 guest list spots to my fine twitter followers, and got a reply within 2 mins !
went something like this “show 2nite in LA. 1st person to email me gets 2glist spots !”.
simple enough. much more fun to come.. this is another way for me to give back to all of you wonderful patrons and supporters.
