The release party for my new album “Tiger Flower Circle Sun” (out July 27) will be July 31, 2010 at Twin Space in San Francisco. I’ll be performing some sounds from the record and celebrating this project with everyone. Very excited to share.
I began this series with XLR8R TV in 2008 . Andrew Smith and Ken Taylor of XLR8R asked me if I would be interested in creating some type of video tutorial series about how I create things. After a few test episodes with Kerry (awesome) Mclaughlin producing + a lot of positive feedback and fun, we kept it going. For this new episode, # 15, Gray Productions is now helping me produce the episodes, XLR8R is still helping to get the word out, and Sound Arts is providing the space to shoot the videos in. My objective with this series is to help expand your imagination, and excite your own creative process so that you can make what you love easier, and with a clearer intention.
In this new episode I explain and experiment with how to use the Block with Max for Live, to create live guitar input sequencing.
Almost all of my releases are in here now, and you can download any format you want + all high quality with proper artwork.
All donations go directly to me and support this creative process, big time.
Thank You.
This album brings together so many of the patterns, feelings, vibrations I love. For me, Tiger Flower Circle Sun is about the connection of all things, forms, thoughts, plants, people, sunlight. I opened my imagination wide and allowed the process to happen, the patterns to emerge.
Here is one track from the record for all of you : Sun Body
I have a lot to share surrounding the album, including some remix stems, videos, tutorials about the process, and performances.
Thank you for the love and sustained support.
You guys keep the process flowing so gracefully.
Very excited to release a new album this summer, finish some long evolving projects and dig into a few new pieces that I’m developing.
Info about the new album is on the way + I’m focusing on new live studio recordings, new audio and video processing systems, a few live performances this summer and digging into more workshops at Sound Arts. So much to do, so much on the horizon, and feeling so much great energy and momentum. New sounds and images very soon my friends.

Thanks to everyone who made the night happen April 17 at Kunst-Stoff Arts.
It was my favorite show that I have performed at in San Francisco. An amazing group of people came together.
The night began with a dj set by David 8. A mix of Celer, Alva noto, Sakamoto, and others. Alexander from Om Shan Tea was pouring tea gong fu style, and vegan tamales and home-brewed drinks emerged. My great freinds Medicine Vibrations then vibrated the space with their custom-built didgeridoos. Beautiful set. After a short break with more sound from David, I began a set of two long pieces.
The first piece was with percussionist Jeff Pierre, weaving melodic polyrhythms with fast conga patterns and shaker pulses that I recruited a few audience members to play with us. Video of mirrored green and yellow leaves from a jungle in Thailand created organic mandala shapes behind us, which slowly folded into itself. The second piece was an extended version of “Flowers into Stardust” from my upcoming album this summer. It is a large harmonic vibration that pushes and pulls gently. The video for this piece also used plants, in this case flowers from San Francisco, that were processed in real-time into curtains of vertical colored light. As the piece grew, three dimensional blurs morphed the forms into more symmetrical geometries that continuously changed color, shape and texture. I feel like, more than ever, my intentions, visions and dreams are holding within these sounds and images. All the work I have done in my life, all of the sounds, images, photos, videos, patterns, experiences and meditations, are spiraling into a beautiful vibrating being. It is my responsibility to cultivate, nurture and propagate this vibration.
Thanks to everyone who’s energy came into making the evening so beautiful.
We are taking responsibility for what needs to be done, and creating the space we collectively envision, and need. We are here, we are doing this, and we are so alive.
We are setting up another event at Twin Space May 29th 2010 – 2111 Mission St. 3rd Floor – 8pm. More info soon.
APRIL 17th, 2010 – SAN FRANCISCO – KUNST-STOFF ARTS
This will be my first show of the year. I’ll be performing new material and collaborating with some very special guests, including Jeff Pierre from Haiti.
I just received my new monome in the mail last week.
I’ll be using this to bring the control of the patterns i create out the computer, so the rhythms and folds are easier to see and change. Very excited to tour with this guy.
As always, thanks so much for the big LOVE.
“Live on Earth Volume 2″ featuring “Beams” felt so good to release to all of you for free on my mailing list, and I really appreciate everyone who bought the high-quality files from my new online store.
Sound is an amazing tool and metaphor of all energy, and I feel very inspired to have such amazing and thoughtful people creating and sharing their own experiences with these vibrations. We are sound.
Right now my next solo record is being mastered, and it will be out later this year. Many more details soon. I am soooo incredibly excited to share this music with all of you. It’s my most diverse album yet, and I’m really digging it.
I’m also working on a different new solo record, finishing up about four collaborations, + working on new audiovisual work and a new series of plant and light photographs. I’m also working out a couple new tutorials related to max for live, ableton live, performance ideas. Add on new Overlap.org releases and events, and new classes at Sound Arts, and yeah this year is going to be busy and very fun.
And I’m so excited to play new live music for all of you this year ! I’m focusing on scheduling my time performing and traveling. My main touring focus is set for a long run of performances from mid June – Sept. If you or someone you know wants to set up a show, contact me and my management here – CONTACT.
I’ll be playing other shows this spring and fall, but the main push of touring this year will happen from about mid June into the fall. Let’s connect.
I’ll be DJ’ing a special night of Haitian dance and drumming on Jan 30th 7-10pm with Djenane St.Juste, Fofo, and drummer Jeff Pierre, who is a featured drummer on my upcoming solo record.
Please come out to support. This is an amazingly talented family from Haiti that needs our help. Donations at the door will go to Djenane, Jeff, and Fofo’s immediate family and will make an instantaneous impact upon their lives.
The event will be at : KUNST-STOFF arts
929 Market Street, 3rd Floor
San Francisco, CA
7-10pm
It has been a wonderful year.
Thank you for your love and continued support. In 2009 we’ve helped to expand the reach of creative experimental music, video, and events to many people around the world. Now more than ever, we need to experiment with new ways of making, thinking, living and listening.
If you missed the free version of Live on Earth Volume 2, sent to my mailing list you can still get the best quality files here :
High quality files do sound better, and unlike itunes, which takes about a 1/3 cut, my shop’s sales go directly to me. Buying from this shop is the best sounding, and most direct way to support the production of my art. Many thanks to Ethan and Joe + crew and the amazing bandcamp.com. And if you like “Beams” you will also dig “Plants and Hearts“.
BANGKOK NEW YEAR’S PARTY
+ If you happen to be in Bangkok this week, I’ll be playing a DJ set of a bunch new tracks on New Year’s Day. http://bit.ly/5QfnVF
